Trafford’s leading Labour politicians have called on residents to book their booster jab as part of a major national effort to protect the country from the Omicron variant.

In a joint statement, Trafford Council leader, Cllr Andrew Western, and Cllr Jane Slater, Executive Member for Health Wellbeing and Equalities, said: “The best thing we can do is to make sure we are all up to date with our vaccinations.

“So if you are due for your booster or you are waiting for your first and second vaccination please book them urgently.

“Our message to everyone who is eligible is please get your jab it could help save your life and protect others.

“We know the vaccination programme has already saved tens of thousands of lives in this country.

“Trafford residents have always work together as a community – so please follow the guidance, get your jab, and stay safe.”
