Labour Candidate for Longford, Sarah Haughey
Sarah Haughey, 47, lives in Stretford with her partner, three children and pet pooch.
Sarah went to school in Chorlton – and, as a mature student, attended The University of Manchester where she studied Sociology – moving across the border to Trafford in 1999 where she and her family have settled.
Sarah currently works for Wythenshawe and Sale East MP, Mike Kane, in his constituency office located at the Wythenshawe Civic Centre.
However, during a previous career break – and while she cared for her young family – Sarah became heavily involved in her local community.
The results of her efforts included setting up and running a community feeding programme geared towards combating holiday hunger.
Sarah is also a staunch volunteer and is a member of numerous community groups, such as, Stretford Wombles; Friends of Victoria Park; Peer support for new mums – and Homestart.
She is also chair of the advisory board for Sure Start centres in North Trafford – and is a governor at Stretford’s Victoria Park Junior School.
If Sarah is elected her main focus will be to work with her community ensuring residents are consulted adequately about development and regeneration and will collaborate with them with the aim of improving outcomes and our environment.
Sarah said she is very excited to take on the challenge to win a Longford ward seat.
